Upon graduating from George Brown Theatre School’s 3 year Conservatory Program in Toronto in 2003, Athena found an affinity for circus arts and then the dynamic practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga in 2007. After 20 years of performing, she focused on teaching to balance and deepen her skills as a physical practitioner and eventually completed her 200 hr certification at Downward Dog Yoga Centre in 2011.
Making the move to Brooklyn, New York for the next 5 years she found herself deeply immersed in her personal practice and a full teaching schedule. This time spent strongly influenced how she approaches the work and relates to her students.
Athena focuses on linking breath to movement, invigorating and strengthening not only the body, but also the mind and spirit. Along with a strong anatomical understanding, Athena brings warmth, generosity and humour into her classes. She allows students to experience their individual practice in a safe, challenging, and supportive environment.
