love. practice. love. by Marla Meenakshi Joy

I found the physical practice of yoga over 20 years ago. After being an actor turned dancer, I felt something was missing. Meeting my guru when I was 19 set me on the path. I am grateful I found meditation and yoga philosophy first 🙂

As I age and am dealing with a surf accident from the beginning of the year (a newfound love), my practice changes daily. My body tells me now what it wants to do. On days with more energy I do more, and with less energy I listen. I love practice. And I try my best every day to practice love.

Patanjali points us towards the true “ashta-anga’s” or 8 limbed practice. Asanas are one of the limbs. A healthy tree has all of its branches or limbs in a healthy place.

Meditation and pranayama are the core of my daily Sadhana and asanas are the meditation my body loves and needs. I always resurface  from my mat feeling better. More open, more grounded, with more love.

Yoga… The unification of the individual self with the supreme self… This is what yoga is defined as and truly IS.  Let us not forget this.

Love. practice. Love.

I am grateful.
