The Inner Tradition of Yoga: How yoga comes alive in everyday life
Lecture and book signing with Michael Stone
followed by Kirtan with SWAHA

Saturday, November 22

Drawing on his new book exploring the psychological aspects of yoga practice, Michael will discuss key teachings from the yoga tradition and how they come to life in formal practice and also in each and every moment. He will also explore the relationship between mind and body in traditional teachings and the some of the necessary changes that the yoga tradition is undergoing as it establishes itself in contemporary western culture.

Michael Stone is a psychotherapist, author and yoga teacher and teaches internationally in studio, academic and medical settings. His most recent book, The Inner Tradition of Yoga (Shambhala) with a foreword by Richard Freeman explores yoga from a psychological perspective and his forthcoming book, "Yoga Engaged" explores the relationship between spirituality and activism. He is a long-time student in the various traditions of Krishnamacharya and has written extensively on yoga psychology and the integration of yoga philosophy, ethics and physical practice. Michael leads Centre of Gravity Sangha, a community of Yoga & Buddhist practitioners in Toronto. Visit his website at www.centreofgravity.org

"Michael Stone's teaching brilliantly reveals the profound underpinnings of yoga which are rarely taught or understood. His demonstration of the interdependence of theory, practice and daily life makes yoga work on a level that will truly transform our minds and hearts, as well as our bodies." - Richard Freeman, Director of The Yoga Workshop, Boulder, Colorado

"I am learning many new things from Michael Stone who is able to teach yoga to a new generation of people concerned with the inner practices of yoga as well as the cultural and ecological self." - B.K.S. Iyengar
